Been following this Forum for about 3 years now and we finally got around to registering. We berth at Lighthouse Marina so usually fish that side of the Lake but have a couple spots we like around Frey Key. As the Captain demands equal fishing time with golf, usually fish twice a week, during the week, early in the morning. What’s really been working well for us is to anchor over 60-65 foot cuts adjacent to shallower water. Virtually everything we’ve caught has been right off the bottom with live or cut herring. Over the past few weeks have only had a few strikes that were not right off the bottom. As the Captain has her mind set on a big one to mount on the wall, she’s looking to expand our horizons to get it done. Now if the rain will just go away.
If you want one to hang on the wall, come on up to one of the lakes in the upstate. Maybe the PCB’s makes them grow faster.

I’d rather fish than eat.

Thanks for the greeting. Some of the folks who post I feel like we know after following the Forum for so long. We fish out of a blue 1984 Ranger Bass Boat. Have it rigged with GPS and Hot Maps which is almost like stealing when it comes to trying to locate fish, and finally topped it off, at the Captain’s insistence, with an engine mounted trolling moor.
Welcome M & P Glad you were able to get signed up. Hope to see you on the water in the morn. I’ll be looking for you around your favorite location. Been sometime since we shared spots.
Ditto what striperskiff said. When he speaks, listen because he, along with a lot of other guys on this site can find and catch the fish. Good luck

Pattianne, welcome to the forum. You need to join us on one of our Friday night Flotillas. I’m not going tomorrow, but I usually go every friday. Some good fishing around Frey Key, I got my biggest Murray striper there (21#). We have been doing the same as you. 40 to 60 feet of water with fish on the bottom.
Sounds interesting. Will need to get some more info on the flotilla details. Haven’t been out at night all that much, but its not a bad idea this time of year with the heat rather than baking in the boat.

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>I just put it on my phone last night and it’s really cool. Not as many features as on the chip, but it has both the lakes and coast in the one app and was only $9.99.
Of course, I’ll still use the GPS on the boat when on the lake, but now I can be sitting in a meeting during the dayu and looking for potential spots to fish when I get off.
