Turning the 80,000 mile mark. Need new shocks, brakes, tires, and I want to install a leveling kit. Its a 2005 Ram 4X4 2500.
My first step is the shocks and leveling kit. I have read on the internet (so it must be true) of people getting them for $300 - $500. Went to Low Country 4X4 and the wanted close to a grand. Why are they so expensive?
Anyway done this in the area and have a good shop to work with? I don’t have the tools and cannot do this one myself.
I can buy the parts if they would install and align.
I am about to roll 220,000 miles on my '01 2500 and Lucas Auto on Dorchester Rd has been doing my service and maintenance for the last couple years. I just had them price me on shocks and instalation and it was well below $1000.
Call Glen or Barry andd tell them Jamie from United referred you. 843-747-8585
Don’t know how far you are from Walterboro, but my brothers do anything you could possibly need at their shop. Blocker Boys Customs 843-782-8888. I hope this is ok mods, delete if need be.
I would look at Topgunz website. They have a really nice steel front spacer for about $80 that will level out the truck. Then get a set of Bilstein 5100 shocks.
The total parts should be about $400 with shipping. They are really easy to install. Any shop that can install shocks can install the spacers and the shocks at the same time. Truelly there shouldn’t be any more labor to remove the front coils and install the spacers as the hard work is getting to the shocks. With those parts I listed and labor it shouldn’t cost more than $600 for a quality install with good shocks and spacers.
Frankies Tires on Cross County Rd. is really good at installing mild lifts. I know of a good bit of people that have been satisfied with them. I would research and get your own parts in hand and then take them to a shop to look at and get prices. Any shop that orders your parts and installs them will likely want $1000.
Geronimo - That is exactly what I wanted to do. Was just looking for a shop that knows what they are doing. Lowcountry 4X4 offered the same thing but their price was over a grand, bit of sticker shock. Without shocks it would be a couple hundred bucks but since I need shocks anyway thought I would do it all at once.
Honestly I do about zero off roading with the truck. Its used for towing. Is there anything other than Bilstein to look at, Rancho?

Fishman, These guys ^ are going to be cheaper than Lowcountry 4x4 just because they are out in the “country.” Have seen many of the trucks they work on, and it is all very good work.
And apparently i forgot to add the most important information for you: Lucas has priced parts for me before then given me the part numbers and let me research purchasing identical items on my own for them to install. Their prices for me have always been within 5 or 10% of what i could find them for locally and usually to save myself teh trouble and delay i have just gone with their pricing.
So yes, they will probably let you bring your own parts for the installation.
But it looks like you have a couple places to choose from here. Good Luck!
