Ranger Bass/Inshore Species Boats

I have gotten several IM’s about my rig as there are not a lot of these out and about and I don’t really understand why. I’ve owned 9 boats over the past 13 years and I like to try new stuff fairly regularly so I trade up. So far this is by far the best boat I’ve owned out of many and it’s doing great in the salt.

My boat is a Ranger Intracoastal z21 which is based off of their popular z21 bass boat but has salt water grade metals, trim tabs, and of course no carpet and it fishes great.

I mentioned to the guys I’d post some pics of my rig. If interested in seeing a boat like this, there is a dealer who I would highly recommend in your immediate Charleston area; Berkeley Outdoors Marine in Monks Corner. If you are down my way, I’d be happy to show you this one.

Clinton Stewart owns the business and he knows boats. He’s been turning a wrench on them and fixing angler screw ups for a long time and he’s as good of a guy as there is and he is exceptionally fair with his pricing. Can’t encourage you enough to visit him if you want to see one of these rigs.

Here’s mine, it’s an 09 dual console with a Merc 250 ProXS. She’ll run 74 GPS all day long fully loaded. BTW, I’d not hesitate to put a 4 stroke on this boat but this one was pre-rigged with this motor which is great when I got it. I really like it and she’ll fish in 12" of water. I set the TM depth ring and just go do my thing. I have been blown away by how skinny it will get. Anyway, here’s the pics I promised. Tight lines guys.

Nice rig. What’s the top speed? Draft? Do you still do any bass fishin?

Thanks so much. Yes, she’ll scoot. This boat will run right at 74 GPS with both tanks full (24 gal each) and me at 6’3" an 250lbs plus all of my crap (which is ridiculous how much mess I have in that boat normally). Draft is 14" Ranger says but I’ve been in 12" with no issue at all because I can step out and wade to scout on the hard bottom. I’ll just put the poles down, get out, and go look around.

Yes, I still do plenty of bass fishing which is why I got this rig for both salt & fresh water. I have the quick disconnect TM mount from MinnKota so I can put my freshwater foot control Fortrexx TM on and go do the bass thing which is where my fishing roots are. I have the SAV river nearby and of course the mighty Santee Cooper not too far from here to chase the little green fish and when it cools off I’ll be running up to Santee for some Fall topwater action for sure.

Chuck, I sold my Cape Horn when I moved back home from Santa Rosa Beach. For the first year, I fished Edisto from my 20 ft Javelin and loved it. The shallow draft, 109 # trolling motor, 74 mph(gps) for that occasional thrill, the open casting area, etc made for an inshore fishing machine. When I started back guiding I bought another Cape Horn. Bob

Oh yeah, that Javelin has made a real name for itself in the bass world for sure. That is a tried and true work horse. For guiding though that center console is tough to beat when you need the room and have kids and beginners to teach. Gotta be great for down rigs and so on too going for flounder, trout, reds, etc. Both are terrific boats for sure. I’ve seen some cool boats since I’ve been down here that’s for certain!

Also, Bob I love that Redman All American jacket. That’s back when fishing tournaments were so much more fun. So (**() cutthroat now that’s it’s crazy.
