Rats......,

…on the dock, what can i do to take care of these suckers?

Surely, this most be a common problem…???

traps at night should clear up the problem

Marsh rats?

Get a bait station and keep fresh bait (poison blocks) in it.

poison is the most effective.

Contact PETA, I am sure they have some humane “catch & release” program. Maybe even adoption.

i dont know what kind of rats they are…big black ones, the kind that live at the end of the dock over the water in the wando river…

problem with poison is those bastards will probably go die in my boat and thats really gonna pssstt me off…

I want to catch one live, hook em in the tail, and drop him back in the tarpon hole…

A homemade bucket trap works real good, I’ve got 2 of them and they keep the rats under control in the pump house and chicken yard.

There are several ways to do it, this one works. Cheap and easy. If you want to live catch them for bait use a deeper bucket.

I don’t like poisons, might kill a coon, otter, neighbors dog or something that doesn’t need killing.

Maybe the outdoorsman in me is taking over my common sense, but a nice .22 bullet out of a rifle will always do the trick. Works very well for squirrels that destroy my aunt’s yard. Also the circle of life takes the dead squirrels and everyone is happy. Just my two cents…

Depending on what’s across from your dock, open water or marsh as opposed to other docks houses ect. sounds like a great opp for some really fun target practice

She’s little, but she’s pretty, skinny and fast.

but they are so so fast?! and the ricochet could be devastating to me or the boat…

bucket?, what to do with em once I have them in the bucket?

Is it legal for me to rip rounds off at the end of the dock???

There is nothing close by except the next dock down, about 75 yards away.

Adopt a cat. Not a cute sweetie kitty but a raggedy one eared tomcat.

Saturate some bread with hot sauce and ether. They will not be walking straight and probably drown themselves trying to get the hot sauce out of their mouth. Used to live in a cabin off Mobile Bay and we had some small marsh rats get in one night. Put some bread with hot sauce out and never saw them again. Works good for birds as well.
