I’ve noticed folks bottom fishing near the Ravenel Bridge lately…very close to main channel. Looks like they could be guides with clients. Anybody know what this fishery is?
Its my understanding people catch big Red and Black drum around the rock piles/pylons under the bridge.

Haven’t done it myself but I hear they catch bull reds, black drum, sharks and spanish mackerel there.
No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.
Jigging the rocks there with light tackle you catch everything, I’ve caught keeper b.s.b there more than once. Big baits catch bruiser reds and rumor has it about a half dozen KEEPER cobia have been landed in the area with 1 coming from the pier.
I’ve caught some bull reds there, but mostly it is small BSB. Have also caught some sharks & rays and once caught a decent bluefish. When I go there I try to find some old Cooper River Bridge rubble on my sonar and then anchor up-current and let the rode out until I am over the spot. I have also been skunked a few times there and on three separate occasions I’ve wound up pulling up anchors (or anchor rode) that other people got fouled in the old rubble and cut loose. It took a lot of work to get my anchor back in those cases.
Saw pics of a few poons caught there late last summer…
There are some well known deep holes that hold big reds by the bridge.
