Raw Water Washdown

Hey everyone, was curious how difficult it is to install a raw water washdown system? My fiance bought me one for Christmas and I’ve never looked at it. I tried to google videos and there really wasn’t much help. I have a Pioneer 197 Sportfish and it has a plumbed livewell. Is there a way to just tap into that thru hull and run the livewell and the washdown off the same fitting? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks you!

Youll need to replace the livewell pump with one that has dual ports. And you will also want to install a seacock valve. Let me if you have any questions

Thanks Cobia. Is it worth just taking it to Pioneer to have them do the install? They offered to do it for $150

If its $150 for labor to install the seacock and dual port then yes I would let them do it…putting the seacock in is a two man job unless the transom is shallow.

Ok. I figured they would just use a Y from the thru hull already in the boat. I may just go the factory install route

Ah okay…The seacock is an important safety measure since there is no way to stop a leak on the wash pump connection.

Was thinking that Pioneer would have added that to the intake for the livewell. Haven’t really looked at the boat yet but will be doing that sometime this week.

Someone once told me you needed to be a circus midget to work in a 197 bilge…with the tight access. And that was my experience too. The Pioneer guys are great, and the drive to Walterboro is not so bad, so I’d jump on that $150 offer. You will enjoy the wash down so much, it will seem a bargain.

I DOUBT IF PIONEER WILL INSTALL IT IN A USED BOAT.
THAT PRICE IS USUALLY PART OF THE ORIGINAL BUILD, WHEN ITS EASY TO GET TO EVERYTHING WHILE THE BOAT IS STILL IN 2 PIECES.
THEY NORMALLY LEAVE THAT UP TO THE DEALER, AND I CAN TELL YOU IT WOULD BE MORE THAN AN HOUR AND A HALF LABOR TO INSTALL A RAW WATER WASHDOWN FROM SCRATCH.
MORE LIKE 3 HOURS TO DO PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL

Chris V, my fiance called Pioneer to ask what pump they suggest and Jack suggested a brand. He then told her that if she bought it separately and I didn’t want to install it, that they would for $150. They have also added cup holders to the front bow, worked on gel coat among other things on my “used boat”. Their customer service has been excellent. Thanks for the helpful advice.

that is awesome, if they will do it, I would definitely take it to them for that price.

I’m not sure. Haven’t looked at my boat yet or the pump that she got me. Would prefer to do this myself instead of towing the boat to Pioneer in Walterboro
