Re-Installing rail

I’m re-installing my guard rails b/c it’s been rattling and some of the anchors/screws have been stripped. I’ll prob be using the 3m hard epoxy to fill all the holes where the screws go. . so should I wait for the expoxy to dry to drive in the screws or go ahead and drive in the screws in the hull while the epoxy is still wet?

thanks for any help, have a good one.

If it were me I would wait untill it has totally cured and would make sure the epoxy has a structural filler in it. Screws or thru bolts?

I would drill the hole large enough to install a small dowel
coat teh dowel with epoxy, and drive it in th ehole
let it cure
predrill before installing screw, and coat screw with marine sealant

The rail standoffs just screw right into the hull. . with screws.

Why not just use Marine-Tex, let cure and redrill the pilot hole. If not I’d do it like Chris V suggested

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

If thier just wood screws going into the glass, adding a dowel will definitly help them hold. A lot of the older Whalers use thru bolts with a backer plate of stainless on the outside of hull, hence the thru bolts.
