I’ve made this many times and am making it tonight, so thought I’d share!
Amish One-Pan Ground Beef and Cabbage Skillet
Ingredients
•1 pound grass-fed ground beef
•1 onion, chopped
•1/2 - 1 head cabbage, chopped
•1 tablespoon butter
•1 clove garlic, minced
•1 (14.5-oz) can diced tomatoes
•1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce (I’ve even used pasta sauce)
•salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
1.In a large pan, brown ground beef until no longer pink. Add onion and continue cooking until translucent. Drain extra fat if needed (or leave it and don’t use the butter). Add garlic and continue cooking for 1 minute.
2.Add butter, cabbage, tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt and pepper to the pan and stir to combine. Cover and simmer about 20 - 30 minutes until the cabbage is soft.
sounds good! Why do you like the grass fed beef? I think grain fed is much better. About 2-3 weeks before slaughter, small pen, heavy grain, all the hay they can eat, and plenty of fresh water.
bc, that’s just what the recipe says! I just use store bought hamburger! Probably be good with ground venison or ground turkey for that matter! It does make a good meal!

Didn’t mean to be a smart ass! I just get a little tickled about the “grass” fed beef thing! Figure all cows live off grass! IMO the really good beef is when you take a steer off the grass and put him in a tiny feed pen and pour the grain and fresh water to him for a couple of weeks.
we pen our three or four cows up for about 75 days feeding them mash/and corn and little hay before slaughter. they come out nice and tender and tasty.
About 800 pounds and one month in a small holding pen. All the hay they want and beef maker from G&G feed store. Can’t beat it! Steaks are a little small, but that’s how dad likes it so I roll with it.
