Arrowhead

Went to Arrowhead today and the shad and herring are still thick. Only stayed 2 hours. 16 shad and around 130 herring with 2 people in the boat.

Good to hear resq.My brother in law went Friday and didn’t do anything. We caught em on Thursday.Anyone have an idea on what happened Friday? The recording said they were turning loose the same amount of water.

Haha, yea that’s what I told him.He even stopped by to see the shad I still had on ice.Seriously ,he normally does very well,he said no one was pulling any shad in.Just trying to figure out what happened so I don’t drive 25 miles for nothing.Oh well, I guess I’ll chalk it up to bad luck. That’s why they call it fishing and not catching I reckon.

Anyone been lately? Report? Water level? Current?

Went yesterday & did pretty good. Ended up with 35 shad, few herring & caught some stripers too. fellas from NC were crushing the herring in the boats.

Thanks for the report Tug.Call this number and a recording will tell you how much water is being turned loose.1-800-925-2537.Also you can google Santee river water level and get a lot of good info. It’s been a great shad season,I think because of all the water released. I got my share of roe for sure. It’s too bad tail race isn’t good anymore, the shad fleet would be spread out a little more.

Got to fish up at the dam yesterday with the DNR & COE for the veterans. It was awesome. Got my limit of shad in no time, some small stripers, saw huge cats pulled out as well.

The pictures are amazeballs

Went Saturday for one last time with my son. We got 2 limits of fish. The water wasn’t flowing for the first 2 hours then they turned it on. We could’ve kept more. Herring are still there as well

Run is about over. Took the Wife and Daughter to Arrowhead for a few hours. Only caught 5 that were very thin. Saw a couple of dozen swimming around on top of the water, dying. Eagles were picking those off.
