rebuilt honda 225's???

Got an odd offer the other day for a trade… here is the deal…
Dealer in Florida has a older Scarab hull with 2004 honda 225’s with 90 hours on rebuild.

Salesman really new nothing about the engines, but they were rebuilt, don’t know why, or how many were on prior.

Would you ever buy a rebuilt outboard?

Not very far into this deal, haven’t seen the boat, or got a survey, which it will need since it is a 1993 hull.

you should be able to read original hours
only reason i can think of is 3000hours or sunk

Ive done many honda rebuilds with over 8,000 hrs (Coast Guard). As long as it will pass a leak down test It’s a deal. If they start right up and have the torque I’d say there good. Have a local reputable tech check them out.
