Looking at a boat now with a 2001 225 Mercury Optimax that has a rebuilt powerhead in 2003. boat has approx 400 hrs on it.
im not a fan of this but that boat seems to be a pretty good deal even if i have to repower her in a year or two.
i know this is a difficult question to answer but what is every ones thoughts on this?
If it has 400 hours on the rebuilt powerhead then it was correclty done. Build issues typically present themselves within 50 hours. Do a compression check before you buy. If you do buy it, do a full service making sure spark plugs are changed and run the Mercury DFI oil.
