Yes sir with the license…from what I understand you have to have one.

you may just want to cast net or buy them, it will be pretty expensive to buy a net and build a set of doors for this adventure. It probaly is not the best for your engine to be pulling such a load either.

You really need an old boat for pulling a net. It will beat your boat all to pieces

TMJ…I have a 12’ test trawl that we pull in Louisiana to catch bait. If you can’t find one locally google Alario Brothers. They’re in Westwego, La and might be able to help. Be aware that the shipping might cost as much or more than the trawl.

Do you have to put turtle extruders in a small try net (12-30ft) ?

Eat mor trout.

i think anything over 16 feet has to have a TED,unless it is pulled in by hand. This means no winch, pulleys or help of any kind. I think they must all be equipped with a BRD, also you can not have a recreational shrimp license and a commercial one.

I’ve been wanting to do that myself. I have what they call a super 16 that was dipped and have the boards also. It is more of a strain on the motor than the boat. WE used to pull these nets in Mobile bay with 15ft boats with 20 or 25 hp motors. The rules here say 1/2 mile off shore at mean low water. Limited to a 55 minute pull and no ted as long as there is no mechanical retrieveable divice. The last time I checked it was around 130 bucks for the licenses. This included the captains and the boats. That was of course about 2 years ago. The cost for the rope is what’s a bummer. Was gonna try it last year but my motor decided not to cooperate.
