hey yall -i’ve got a good bit of striper n hybrid filets n my freezer from some recent trips to “the hill”- if any of yall have any good recipies for them i would really like to try them-getting tired of just fryn em -i know this is a good problem to have -figured yall could help
when i get tired of frying…
make a foil pan about 13" by 20" or so
five lemon slices, half a purple onion, some green onions and make a small bed in bottom of pan, season fish with ms dash, old bay , pepper, etc… what ever you like and put fish on top of bed. then put 5 or 6 more lemon slices on top along with other half of onion and more green onions. cover it all up and put in oven or grill, adds a little bit too it if you got a beer in your hand over the grill…lol… let it cook about 20-30 min check and cook to desired doneness…<<<<not a word i don’t think. i like for it to be very done, falling all apart. add more or less lemons depending on how you like lemon taste. the onions and lemons are very good to after mixing with the fish and spices. hope you enjoy…
that sounds good -think i’ll try that one tomorrow -thought about making a striper stew the same way we make catfish stew with the potatoes, fried ■■■■■■■,onions, and tomatoes -didnt know if it would be about the same-guess it wouldn’t hurt anything to try it -hopefully be putting more in the freezer this weekend
my favorite non fried recipe is baked with lemon.
olive oil pan, pepper old bay and sea salt filets, rub in oil. top with a little crushed seasoned croutons and juice a lemon over the top. bake for about 20 mins or so (depending on size-thickness) at 350.

I baked some in a glass dish with butter, garlic, old bay, salt & pepper. Sprinkle the top with bread crumbs. Cooked in oven at 375 for 12 minutes. I cut the fillets in half so they were pretty thin. Still hard to beat Autries, corn meal and oil.
The toughest part is getting one over 21". I don’t think I caught a keeper this year and pretty much have gone every week. Caught quite a few close ones, but no keepers. I need to come up with a herring recipe for all the bait I throw back.
