OK, so me and my buddy were headed to steam boat landing at Edisto on Jenkins Hill Road at 4:00 AM Saturday morning. We met the newspaper delivery guy in the middle of the road and went to yield over to the right for him. We probably weren’t going 5 mph when a perfectly forked substantial live oak limb spears the hardtop/aluminum framework head-on and stops us dead in our tracks. Needless to say it was not pretty when we cringed to look back.
The hard top and all of the aluminum framework is pretty well wrecked. We have already removed it from the boat. Where the framework meets the gunnels and the center console are pulled through/need fiberglass work.
Since he has to do some major fiberglass repairs anyway, he would like to address some soft spots in the floor as well. Who would be an all around type outfit that could address these structural fiberglass repairs and possibly be an option for putting a new top on the boat?
I know that tree, it did the same thing to my Bertram! I use to carry a chainsaw and tree trimmer when I launched down that road! Use a buddy ramp now.
If you don’t mind traveling a little to Columbia I recommend Ruben at main Carolina fiberglass. 8033510125. For a t-top or hard top I’d be glad to give you a quote. Http://www.oemttops.com

I’m interested to know who you decided to use for the fiberglass repair!! I have a Seacat SL3 that needs to floor work.
If I’m not mistaken, I think he took to G Craft. Thanks for the responses guys. When he gets all the work completed, I’ll post results…
I think he also got back in touch with the company who built this top originally who is also from Mt. Please and a member of this site. Not sure of the name though.

Best guy in the Lowcountry, Kenny Chastain in Hollywood. He did a minor repair for me and a major one for a friend of mine and you won’t ever know where the damage was plus he is reasonable. Not the fastest but very talented. Nice guy too!

3rd KC’s boat body. Picked my boat up 2 weeks ago after getting some scratches repaired and a complete paint job and the boat looks better then from the factory.
