My 14 y.o. son is trying to talk me into getting a kayak to use around the local creeks/rivers. Combined weight for the two of us is around 350 lbs. I’d like a sit on top model and preferably something that is very stable.
Not looking to spend a lot of money (used is okay). The kayak won’t have to be carried around once it makes it to the house so size/weight for transportation isn’t an issue. Any recommendations?
Thanks!

I own a two seater islander kayak. Its really stable, i am able to stand up in. I got mine at Ludens a couple of years ago, they still may sell them. I think I paid around 400 for it.
i just bought a emotion yak called co-motion. it is a two seater sit on top. i just took my dad out in it this afternoon; it was the first time either one of us had been in a kayak and it went great. it was very stable and it didn’t have a problem while boats went by. it got him hooked he wants one for his own now. you should check out time out in mt pleasant dolphind posted earlier about 30% off some of there stuff. i went there yesterday and he was very helpful getting me started.
Thank you for the replies…I’ll check these boats out!
