Anyone have a recommendation for a pleasant and competent guide? My wife and I are going down in 10 days to stay at Duck Key. The list of guides is really long and I do not have any experience with a guide in this area.
Been going down for a couple of years. There is a place on duck key called “Hawks Cay” it’s a great place to stay if you ever get the chance but if you go to the marina in there they have a bunch of charter boats that go out of there. They have at least 2 captains there that are on television. Capt. Scott Walker from “Into the Blue” and Tom Rollins from “Saltwater Experience” both Capt. out of there at least they did last time I was down. Also down the road a bit towards marathon is a headboat called “The Marathon Lady” I’ve had some great times on that boat.
What ever you do if you find yourself in key west and you want to go out deal with the capts. at the boats, not someone in a booth that sells spots a bunch of different boats. I made that mistake last time thought I was getting a good deal and ended up with six tourists staring at one rod and downrigger for four hours. Nothing like they promised me. I’ll never make that mistake again. Good Luck and Enjoy the Keys
Inshore live bait, Capt. Jeff Malone “Tarpon Time”.
Fly, Capt. Paul Fisicaro Strip Strike Charters…
Can’t go wrong with either guy.

Thanks. We are staying at Hawks Cay. It looks great on the web but have never been there. I am going to check those guides out on the web right away
Life is good.
Let me second what Newman said - I know Jeff Malone and Paul Fisicaro - these guys are awesome. That’s who I would call if i were staying at duck key.
