Recreational catch

It would be interesting to know how many users of this site have reported their catch to NOAA to be used in determining the annual catch rate.

Will / when / if /… I can find an area that isn’t closed and I catch something that isn’t under/over or don’t remove from water
or you’ll be shot on site by drone surveillance.:smiley::smiley:[:0]

I get questionnaires in the mail from them all the time, but they just want to know how much I am on the water, and what the weather is like. they send these brand new 2 dollar bills with the survey.

All charter boats are required to submit a report for every trip to DNR. Times, dates, number and pounds of each species kept, number released alive, number released dead, general area, type of fishing, and depths fished. Reports are due by the 10th of the following month. I’m sure this information is shared with NOAA and SAFMC.

here in lies the problem. As one who has been there and done that , I can tell you that these reports are done usually on the 7th or 8th of the month immediately before sending , and have no relationship to reality
