red eyes

My son was waiting for me in the dark after a hunt and he said he saw a pair of redeye following him… He turned to face it and closed to within 10’ when fired a warning shot.
I think it had to be a yore, but I’ve never heard of them getting that close to humans, unless he though my kid was a deer.

He shot at something in the dark that he couldn’t identify?

I read that to say he fired a warning shot, not took a shot at it.

Coyote, curr dog, sasquatch, lizard man, Jesus Ray, tell junior unless he’s 5yrs old there’s no reason to be scared of the dark, a Warning shot, my lord…

Some tales are best left untold.

Story time:

My wife (at the time girlfriend) is terrified of yotes so I have to walk her to her stand when she hunts. Since she started hunting with me I had been trying to convince her that a yote would never bother a human ever! Not gonna happen! No way in Hell! But still she insists that I walk her to her stand flashlight in hand ready for an intimate attack.
One morning I dropped her off at her stand double back down the road and head towards my stand 400 yards away. Of course day light is already starting and I can see about 30 yards as I get to about 50 yards away from my stand I get an eerie feeling something was behind me. I turned around and a yote is 15 yards behind me at a trot. The bullet found it’s way in his left nostril and cleaned out everything behind it. Dragging it back down the road I noticed it’s foot prints in my boot track, it had picked me up about 50 yards earlier on the road. The yote had a broken rear right leg that had healed, very scrawny; I believe it was looking for an easy meal.
8 years later- it looks like the swat team rolling through the woods any time we hunt in the morning and I (**() well better have the truck heading down the road before it gets too dark at night!

BOB

i’ve had foxes, possums, armadillos, and hunting dogs come up to me in the dark while walking out.

he said that it came from 50 yards to 10’ straight to him.
And it was a shot into the ground.

Did it look like this?

Lmao at easy’s pic! I climbed down with my climber one evening at dark. As soon as i jumped onto the ground something came trotting up to me, didn’t have flashlight out yet. Bout gave me a heart attack. Was just a dang possum. Had a big boar growl at me one morning before daylight while i was in the stand. That’s a scary feakin sound in the dark.

and last but not least, scared of the dark!

I have stepped on a copperhead getting out of my stand.
Last week, one of the guys working on my property was moving a gr blind and there was a 4’ copperhead in it.

Last year in late Nov I did my usual during the rut and hung a wick with Doe urine from a tree about 25 or 30 yards from a ground blind.Right at dark I heard something in the leaves right next to my blind and looked out and saw the form of a big bobcat climbing a tree about 10 yards from my blind. He smelled me but didn’t know what I was,so he just stayed in the tree growling at me for about 10 minutes before I eased my way out of the blind and left the premises.

From now on,when using attractants I will be off the ground in a stand. That thing almost crawled in the stand with me.

I jumped a doe one time that must have been deaf while walking to the stand in the morning dark. I was like a foot from it trying to be sneaky with no light and it freaked out, ran away a bit, then blew at me. I like to think I know how to handle myself in adrenaline filled situations, but based on the fact I think I just threw the rifle at it and fell into the fetal position, I have my doubts.

The funniest story I ever heard was about Duckcommander getting spooked by an armadillo and then preceding to punt it like a football in the WMA. He hated those stupid things, LOL. I miss that guy.
