Go to SAFMC’s homepage and FB page and beg for them to give us another weekend as 2 of the 3 days were not fishable. Maybe the keepers of the fish will give us another crumb. How pathetic!

Why beg for another weekend when we should be standing united in our call for an 8 month season? The council is allocating over half a MILLION pounds of the 2013 Red Snapper Total Allowable Catch to dead discards during the extended closure. This is what we should be asking the council to do.

  1. Open the Red Snapper season on May 1 with shallow-water grouper.
  2. Allow one fish per person per day with no size limit or highgrading.
  3. Require fishermen to release Red Snapper that are over there limit and have barotrauma with recompression gear like a SeaQualizer.

Does anyone have a better idea or is everyone happy with being allowed to keep 76,369 pounds of our 611,000 pound TAC?
