Why would you make a special trip, just add it to the bottom fish bag.
It’s a stupid season. Rediculous.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Someone’s getting their pockets lined. If they were truly worried about over catch they’d stop it for commercial and leave the recreational guys alone.
If you read the new regs. rec guys get 29656 fish comm guys get 12854 fish theres will be watched and shut down when they reach it rec guys will be an estimate. They can only have 75 pounds per trip some are out for up yo 7 days its per trip not day thats actually not a lot.

The problem is not the numbers but the very limited days to fish. Last year there was only one decent weather day off SC.
Yesterday we fished five different spots. We could not get away from them. Jigging dropping meat and pinfish. To say that theirs numbers are dropping is ridiculous.
2 years ago I fished the west coast of Florida with a friend. They had a 1 fish limit. We limited out the first 20 minutes and continued to catch ARS the rest of the day and they seemed to get bigger and bigger. I am a newbie when it comes to offshore but, it makes you wonder how many folks catch a decent snapper, put it in the box and then later catch a better one so toss they the first one back (dead) so they can keep the bigger one. The offshore fishing regs are crazy.

Continuing to fish for bottom fish after having a limit or catch and release fishing for closed species counted against us more than the actual rec and comm catch combined.
The SAMFC/NOAA figure in release mortality to the total amount of fish they will allow to be caught. We as fishermen have to retrain ourselves to avoid that kind of thing on species that can’t sustain it or we will continue to get short seasons and smaller limits.Even if they are wrong about the amount of fish,it’s their ballgame.
Why not make it like doe tags each applicant gets x amount of tags for the year that way the numbers are not estimated and the fishermen don’t have to worry about weather windows

Great idea. The tags should be non transferable with the sportsman’s name on each tag and a day & month punch out - just like doe tags Otherwise , there will be snapper tags for sale
Be careful they could do like doe days then if that dont work you will have to pay for option days. They need to do it by states give us July Florida is ok for the early date they have.
