Hey guys,
I had a fishery digest book for South Carolina that got wet in the surf. I was wondering if you guys new the rules and regulations on catching red snapper. I had read online about it only being catch and release a few years back.
Also more imporatntly whats the best way to catch those guys. Is it just a baiting setup with like a 4/0 hook. Any help is much appreciated. We dont really have much red snapper up north. Is there a place down here where they seem to be prodominant. Much appreciated.
Yes red snapper are still closed…so its catch and release only.
They just announced our 2014 season will be 3 weekends in July…woohoo!!!
This 2014 Red Snapper season is a joke! It’s only open for 3 weekends and the limit is one per person per day no size limit. We have to do better on the limits. Every bottom fishing trip I charter, we catch at least 6 to 10 in the 5-10lb range.
Capt.Ric Fish On!
I was being sarcastic,with the woohoo…
I know crazy right. One per day. Guess we fill the boat with people.
220 Viper Sea Fox
whats the best setup rigging for catching these guys, and also is this a fish that can be caught off the surf/inlets/pier, or do you also have to go to the gulf stream lol? any help is much appreciated guys
You will not be able to catch one from shore or nearshore. You’re going to need 100 ft of water in order to find them.
