RED "TALE"

Donnie,Roo ^**^ and I headed up past metal trades today leaving from the limhouse ramp. Saw a few other boats on the water and despite the wind predicitions ,I had expected to see a lot more out there. Had to fight for a place to jump on board around the folks crabbing and fishing from the floating docks…with glares from a couple of them when I tried to get by.

Stopped along a bank near a feeded creek and had this many shrimp \plus some on the front deck…in three casts. Man are they little!!..and thats just about the size we had in mclellanville the other day too with a few mediums mixed in. picked through them saving the igger ones…the rest got a pass for freedom.

…ran up past metal trades to the next docks and a little beyond…wind had not kicked up yet so the ride was nice. Caught two small trout and a couple bait snatchers as we moved along…but the bite was very slow. Stopped at another dock and hooked up with one of the biggest reds I had ever caught…well…at least caught for a little while. Lets say he “humored me” with his presence for a few mminutes at least.
IHad my line set with about 2 feet of flouro under the cork…added a shrimp and tossed it just off the dock where the tide would drift it through…saw the cork do a little swirl…a slight gentle tug…never submerging…then it held still. I waited…thinking it might be a flounder…or hang…and then finally gave a little tug on it. The water literally exploded…line screaming off as it fed through the pilings with me trying to keep a firm hold on it and the rod tip up… That fish zigged and zaged and I knew I had a “experienced” …and big fish on the other end !!! I did a little fast foot work. dipping and weaving and going from the front to the back and to the front of the boat again and finally got him out from under the dock…and he was having none of this and headed straight towards part of a old tree st

thanks for sharing…

You ain't kidding! I've been fortunate enough to go with a few guides. And the one thing it seems they haven't taught me is how to stay clean and throw a net!

Nice read, I was on the Stono yesterday and I looked at every boat I passed to see if I saw you or Stono man. Would’ve been cool to run into someone I see posting on cf when I only get to get to the coast three or four times a year. Hope you have more stories to tell this week now I’m back in the upstate. If I can’t be on the water in the low country, I love to read about the place I love.

Nothing wrong if she wears white. C’mon guys…give the woman a break! She was actually throwing the cast net and I bet she can back a truck too! ya’ll know I cant wear white out int he creek…lol…im a mudd puppy at heart!..funny thing is…i never even picked up on the fact she was dressed in white…i just saw a cool boat and another woman throwing a cast net…jezzz…and ya’ll say women knit pick  haha
