I was able to get out and fish every day except Monday. This allowed me to use my tag gun and get some great footage on the Gopro (which is why there is a lack of pictures) I re-visited a stretch of flats I had not fished since last fall and the reds were STACKED UP. From Tuesday to Friday I was able to catch, tag,and release 22 fish…the smallest at 27" and the largest at 36.5" 14lbs. Every fish was caught in less than 6" of water and was tailing, cruising, or belly crawling. On Thursday I was out by 4 AM and, inspired by optikers post last month, threw top water at these fish. Explosive bites in shallow water and bull redfish made for a lot of fun and a lot of heartbreaks…pulled hooks, break offs, and misses. All fish were caught on a skitter walk, Zman Diesel MinnowZ, Zman Shrimp, or gulp jerkshad. On Saturday and Sunday I explored new area, dodged storms, hid under docks, and found fish! Not too much sight fishing action, but I found some deep holes holding trout and mid-slot redfish. Even hooked into a big shark on Sunday. Finished my tags off this morning fishing a ditch on the negative tide holding reds anywhere from 15"-22". Hopefully I will see some tails tonight. Tight Lines!
