What type of lures does anyone use for redfish? I am mostly in the Folly and havent had any luck. I mostly go around the grass lines and in the creeks off of the Folly Boat Landing. I heard that gold spoons work. Just wanted to hear some advice thanks!
I have had good experiences with Z-man, Gulp, and Slayer lures…I usually keep some jerk shad, paddle-tail, and curly-tail jigs handy.

Dont forget some topwaters (zara spooks my fave) if you’re heading out early. Hard to have more fun catching fish than reds on topwater.
onefishtwofish, is there a certain tide you like to fish besides fishing early in the morning? I want to try topwater but wasn’t sure when the best tide was to fish them

I like Zman, and gulp. Love using gold spoon as well, esp on flats.
Cool. Thanks y’all. Are the swimbaits good like the redfish magic lures? Or are those even swimbaits. I want to get something that I can pitch and crank in that will get fish to bite. What am I looking for?
Hey Firefighter. Really love getting out early in the morning- favorite time of the day to be on the water is sunrise plus a couple hours. In my experience (and probably most folks would agree), the topwater is best early and late in the day. Seems to usually shut down a few hrs after the sun comes up…unless you’re 5151 then you can walk the dog all day long and bring 'em in. Not sure there’s a best tide, per se, but generally speaking, just try to target oyster beds/structure, creek mouths, grass lines, etc, as you normally would. High tide would be non-ideal as the reds are most likely gonna be way up in the grass.

Just to add to what to Onefish has said… best tides sort of depend on where you are fishing. Often, the bite will drop off for a while right at the top and bottom of the cycle, when the water is not moving.
A lot of times you can see spottails, so you might try paddling around, especially at low tide, until you see or hear some water breaking.
Gulp baits may be frowned upon by purist (they’re scented) but that’s what I use most of the time.
