quote:I agree ... why put a poling platform on the rear where the motor is? Not necessary.
Originally posted by scotty dThe beauty of that boat is it light weight and accessibility. If you add too much weight, it wont float/fish right, IMHO. I’d skip the rear platform and pole it old school- from the bow. Plus it’d be hard for it to pull double duty as a duck slayer with a platform.
Scotty’s right … go old school … your weight up front poling will balance the motor & tank and the skiff will float flat in about 3-4" of water!

If you feel the need to elevate yourself to see, use a cooler. You’ll probably have one on the boat anyways and even the cheapest of coolers will work perfectly as a removable poling platform.
Thanks for the info happy bob. Will be in touch!

Happy bob, how much can you do the 6 or 8 rodholders for? Yeah guys I thinking on the platform. I really want, and I want to pole and be elevated like a normal flats boat. A cooler is another option to look…thanks.

I wish I could weld aluminum. I would go broke and my boat would be jam full of gizmos

Thanks, got PM. Thinking about bow platform. Definitely gonna take the first half seat off. Kinda wann aput a platform all the way to the bench seat. Will it too tippy if I make it flush with the top of the tunnels like real flats skiffs have? Just have it hollow underneath with “dry” storage. What do yall think?

Basically I want the top deck light and like a carpetless bass boat… also we ate gonna usr camo noise stopping rubber mats for duck hunting as floor instead of wood to lighten her up

Wow yall, this boat has been put on the backburners for a good while. We bough an old trailer if clist to use. Been fixing that up, arranging bunks and tounge and puttin a ligh kit and such. Every bolt we took off that darn trailer would break! We also primed to boat. Getting ready to add rodholders, seats, a bow platform, and some other stuff. We also are gonna cut open the bench seat for a battery compartment. I’ll post some pics when we get done with some if it! Sorry for the delay!!
