Left at 0600 and headed to a trout dock for some top water action.Several blow ups but no takers.Water temp 68 and clear to maybe 2 feet.Headed to my redfish spots and saw several at marker 64 but no action working the trolling motor and running the bank with cut crab on a float.Changed thoughts and headed to my Redfish dock.Put the crab chunks out in several spots and before the 4th rig hit the water number one rig went off.Bent the rod but got off.Re rigged and then number 2 went off same thing no catch???.Check hooks everything was good to go.Then number one went off with Joel pulling in a very fat 32 incher.Randy hooked up next with a 32 incher the largest he ever caught. He was like a kid in a candy store.I was very happy for him.Took pics and i am sure his grandson will want to fish with us next trip.He learned what i did and how to rig and he is off today with His brother and grandson.Told him fish my spots and enjoy.Joel hooked up several times and i just watched and enjoyed the show.Joel had to do a repair job on a car so we left.have to keep a working man working.Going tomorrow with a newbee and His kids.hope we hook up for them.Would post pics if i could figure out how to do it.Posted them on FB.
Thought i would just add a tag to my report. It is very hard for me to recognize people on the water.I may know the face but due to my age not remember your name.So if you see me on the water just ease over and cut your engine so i can hear you.I have no problem with friends fishing my spots with me.just be quiet and ease in and i will tell you where to anchor up.I will share bait if I have enough.Fishing to me is more then a hook up it is relaxing and fishing with nice people. If you see me in a spot remember it and fish it.I have no problem with that ever.

you’re a stand-up dude, stonoman. also, I’ve had the same experiences every so often of wondering, “how in the hell did that NOT hook up?” while doing everything the same I always do. just happens I guess. sharp circle hooks poking all the way through the bait and still have no idea when those days happen. otherwise, most days if there’s a strike then there’s no getting off unless they pop my line!
hope to get out this afternoon and may chase some sheep but MAN is it hard for me to not go after reds when I’m out! nothing beats a still rod getting slammed in half in a split second out of no where!
randy took His brother today to the same place and caught more nice reds.

Randy lost 3 fish. Will check and see what he did wrong.bad line, knots??? Knots can be a problem for a newbee.

That’s awesome stuff Stonoman. I assume you mostly fish on the Stono river? I just got my first boat and we have had a fun time trying to find the fish. We found a boat load of whiting on Sunday out near Dewees island while some family was playing on the beach. I can’t wait to find some redfish and trout!
