Hooked this 38 inch spottail while cobia fishing in St. Helena sound. Hit a piece of squid on a bottom rig we were using to catch cobia bait. Took 20 min to get it to the boat. Looks like she had survived an attack by something big. Had scars all over her belly and an old gash out of her gill plate. No cobia.

Looked to me like it had been bitten and healed. There was a chunk out of the gill plate that was clearly old and healed over.
