Redfisher 16

If anyone on here owns one please let me know. I used the search forum and read some posts, but would like to talk to somebody directly about their boat and their opinion of the boat for the Charleston area.

I have fished a 16 bonefisher for years. Its a great boat! They are good for this area and have the ability to cross the harbor and still get pretty skinny. They are by no means a technical poling skiff and tend to sit ass heavy. We upgraded to a 24 volt trolling motor, put both batteries up front and it helped that problem a bunch.

I have ridden across the harbor in both a redfish 16 and hells bay 18.
The 18 is a way better ride.
Redfisher 16 is a well laid out boat, great for fishing but I would look at spending the extra money to get an 18.

I’ve got an older (lappy style) Redfisher 18, and I think it’s a great boat for Charleston. It’s a little cumbersome to pole, but really not bad at all. It will get me up on the flats to tailing reds, will run plenty shallow, and my wife feels safe in it when the wind kicks up and we’re in a decent chop.

PM ChasRedfish. he has one

I have a 2013 Redfisher 16. I bought the 16 and not the 18, as the 16 fits in my “garage” with a swing tongue. The 18 would not. Definitely would want the 18 if I fished 3 people more than rarely. The 16 great for 2, fair for 3.

Not a technical skiff but a fine light tackle boat.
I’m out by Folly. You’re welcome to check it out.

Just sold my 16 Lappy and it is a bit different than the Redfisher, but it is an awesome boat. I agree with many of the comments already made. Not the skinniest boat, but plenty skinny with 2 guys. I fished with 3 guys and it gets a little cramped.

Boat handles the chop really well for its size. I like the fact that Hewes are “beamier” than most flats boats.

I’ve only heard the 16 squatting if you hang more power than you need.
