"redfishville" at a first glance

finally got to go and hit it.went to a spot a friend suggested first and caught 9 or 10 trout on shrimp, and just about every grub i threw at em.went on through this cut into the big water and found one heck of a flat to fish.broke out the cut mullet steaks and used my old “johchromar” bottom rig set-up right off the grass.with other rod i fished whole head on shrimp under a float.within the first 10 minutes after the high,i guess as it started back out,the fish started.first a 24 incher on the shrimp rig.he blasted it and took 20 yds of line before i knew it.(10lb test).after about 4 or 5 minutes he was in boat.as i was releasing him unharmed, the ugly stik bent plum in half.i counted to 3 went to give him some pressure when i realized he was swimming right at the yak.when i finally caught up to him and he realized he was hooked,he took a good 15 or 20 yds before he turned again.finally got him up to the boat, and stretched him across yak.he reached the other side with room to spare.atleast 31 or 32 incher.(my boat is 30in wide)got him released, and rebaited in time for another smaller spottail on the shrimp rig.i would say around 25 or so.by this time im gettin winded.i been workin my butt off since i arrived.1 more 27 incher on the mullet rig and i called it a day.trolling back to the landing i picked up another nice trout on a ec.what a day.-“workyourbuttoffville”-man it was a blast.best day on water for spottails ever.the trout felt like bluegill compared to those pigs.:stuck_out_tongue:forgot to mention it blew like a banshee out there at times, but didnt effect the fishing at all.

Willy,
I was out there with TimBuckjr. before the high tide (we had to leave just as the tide was got to it’s highest point,) We hit a 24"er right off the bat. Moved a little bit, jr. latched onto a little 27" monster, but he brought it in like he’s been landing spottails his whole life (actually his first red ever) Still had that one in the net when the lightweight rig doubled over and the line started ripping off like no one’s business. Finally got that one at the side of the yak, it was at least as big as the one in the net, when it somehow straightened out both hooks on the rig and headed for greener pastures.
Headed home a little while. The kid summed it up pretty good “This is the best day of my Life!”
