Decided the weather could go to hell yesterday afternoon, I was going walking. Hit a walk in spot and for the first hour didnt see a fish. Stood in the rain, a bit discouraged when I finally saw a tail about 100 yards away. This fish was tailing like crazy. Eased over to him and made a beautiful cast. He tipped up and ate the Crab pattern and it was on. After a good battle I reached down to land him and he made one more thrash and pulled the hook. I just stood there in disbelief and frustration. After finally composing myself I looked up and there was another fish not 60 ft away. I quickly put another cast out and hooked up. In my hurry I forgot to check the leader for abrasions. Well the fish found the weak spot and took my fly from me, and my pride. I figured it couldnt get any worse. Heavy rain, two casts, two hook ups, and no fish landed.
Good job anyway. I got to the ramp with hopeful thoughts, checked the sky and the radar, turned around and came home. As luck would have it, I have family obligations today and tomorrow. Will be waiting for the next set of tides…oh well.

Weather let up enough for us to make it out. Water was way up so we poled the entire time until the rain came. Fish were tough to see with the wind and high water. Managed to get on one fish. Perfect cast with the fly and he came head waking and smacked it. Line got wrapped on the reel trying to clear the line after the strike and snap…no more fishy. The odds were not in our favor yesterday. I’m going Thursday for redemption.
