reds from the surf

I was wanting to try and catch some reds in the surf this weekend, but I’m not sure how. I’ve always surf fished with a regular bottom rig, but I’ve never caught a red from the surf. I enjoy going to IOP so i was hoping to try it there. Can yall give me some tips? What to look for, bait, rigs? I wish i could get out in the rivers or jetties, but the ol mako is down right now. Plus the no beer on the beack SUCKS! Thanks guys!

Nothing wrong with a regular bottom rig. Best bait for reds would be cut mullet or cut blue crab. I don’t know about IOP but Sullivan’s Island by the fort is good for redfish.

Went to the beach today and the mullet were thick, may give it a try soon myself.

Well, I’m gonna go try my luck. I’ll keep y’all posted.
