Reds in the creek

I fished most of the falling tide with a few other people fishing the same area. The baits were live shrimp and mud minnows, swim baits and paddle tails, some fished on top with shopping cork some on the bottom, some worked fast and some slow retrieved. The only thing producing were the shrimp and minnows on the bottom. The bait and wait did the trick today but most of the hits would come just after you cast. A mix of reds from 14 to 30 were landed. The action was slow at first and got consistently better toward low tide. Not that windy, a few bugs and plenty of sunshine. A little bit of fishing tips and info exchanged. I got word that the sheep’s are biting decent again and a few black drum are being caught. I’ve only caught reds so far this year though. The afternoon low tide has been productive from what I have been hearing and got a few this afternoon my self. The ultra light and 6lb got popped by a solid red and another got me on the oysters and rocks and missed a third decent one on a weak hook set. Nothing but slot fish for me today and even had a poor ratio on those. My last 2 red trips I’ve wiffed on the 3 big ones. A little advise, let them take it for a solid 2 count and bump it up from 6lb if you plan to catch 30 inchers. I was expecting slot fish but at the top of the falling tide all the fish were over slot, a nice surprise. No pics because my phone was to dead to take a pic.

Thank you for the report and advice! Hope I can get out there this week.

Nice report! Thanks for sharing, 40.

Thanks I’m feeling the need for some red fish.
