reds in the flats - Wed.

Took a buddy of mine out yesterday for the monster flood tide that we have right now.
He has never waded the flats before so he was particularly excited.
We spooked a handful of fish throughout the morning but were able to catch these 2 reds.
Water was a little too deep for tailing but we could still see the wake enough to track them.
We missed 2 others.
These were caught on fresh cut mullet. The water was a little muddy from the wind and flood so we decided to use the scent more than the sight on them.

After the outgoing chased us to deeper water we were catching Menhaden and mullet at will. One cast I caught at least 100 or more menhaden… only problem is they die so quick. We were literally bailing bait out of the boat.
I guess all that bait was pouring out of the flats at one time. I’ve never seen that much bait in the water… everywhere we went!

2 reds were both right at 4 lbs. My buddies 1st and 2nd reds in the flats wading!
He didn’t even tip the captain! :stuck_out_tongue:

I use a 5 gallon bucket and 9$ bubbler box from Walmart and mine will last an hour or so. You just have to make sure the fish to water ration isn’t to high and they should live a good while.

yep… same setup here but it seems if there are more than a handful of them in there they sink pretty quick!
The bigger ones seem to last a good bit longer than the peanuts though.
