Just have a question for everyone… did i forget how to fish or is everyone having a tough time finding the reds? Finding one or two hear and there but not many big schools. Been out everyday this past week including today and no luck. Just wanted to see what was going on out there
Lots of BIG schools in the area. They are not necessarily in the exact same spots as the past few years.
Then i must always be at the right spots wrong times or wrong spots all around…havent seen one large school yet this year…and only got a few in the boat. This is the first “winter” ive hunted them down. Normally its summertime and winter on the lake. But trying to stay salty year around now. Thanks for letting me know that rascals. Now i know its just me doing wrong things lol
Raddaddy… sorry auto correct…
I cruised the bank north out of the iop for a few miles on Sunday and only saw about 20 fish total. Was thankful to see those 20 in a location I had not seen them in for years. The only thing that sucked about it was the face the school used to be well over a 100 fish. If you can get back in the flats try looking there. Copahee, Hamlin, Gray Bay

Thanks captfritz. Yeah we cruise around up in those flats and a little north of there but still havent found big schools. Like you said fish here and there and lucky to get those to bite. Got a nice 24" to bite but only one so far…
Spent some more time crushing the flats and seeing tons or bait fish (minnows/mullet) but still no big schools only the ones here and there. Found one school that we’ve been use to seeing but the numbers in it were way down. Captfritz: could you share with me what tides your are crushing the flats up there? High to low or low to high or slack tide?

Fished near the bridge on Sunday and found BIG schools of BIG fish everywhere. Ended up with 3, the largest being 33". Saw and spooked A LOT more though.

Right below the IOP connecter there are a bunch of mud flats. They like to hang out underneath it sometimes. I’ll put the pictures on my computer and post them in the kayak forum when I can.

Any idea where the closest kayak launch would be to the IOP connector? Breech Inlet?
Im not sure we always use iop Marian but i think breech inlet might be the closet…havent ventured into the kayak side but wanting to
