Reds pic & rig.

Wanted to share this pic on this section also. Nice blue in the tail. Caught this red yesterday with a rig I use for largemouths. Zman shad scented paddle tail with a red 5/0 worm hook, 1/8 oz gold bullet weight pegged to line. A bunch or reds devoured it.

love that bluetail

Thanks for sharing! Always appreciate another technique to try next time. Did you bump it on the bottom as you retrieved it?

Yes, slow retrieve, bumping on bottom.

there’s a lady that runs a tackle shop in Cocoa beach that makes some great swivel, bullet weight, weedless setups similar to what you have. She incorporates a swivel in the weight somehow and it gives the bait great action. I’ve been meaning to make a “business trip” down that way to restock.

Bubbie, thanks for the ■■■■■■■■ and comment. I’m not saying that’s not a good idea with the swivel causing better action and purchasing some from that tackle shop, but probably not necessary and paying allot more for something you could easily do for yourself. I peg the bullet weight with a toothpick. I just shove the tip up in it and break it off. You can slide it up or down where you want it. With the action of that paddletail it’s all you will ever need. If you wanted to, you could put a ring or swivel on the end of the hook or line for more action if that gives some more confidence and sometimes confidence in a lure is all you need. The rig I was using has caught allot of reds and just for the cost of a worm hook, bullet weight and zman paddletail. It’s also weedless. Most lures are made to catch men.
