Hit the water around 6am. A quick cruise through the intracoastal revealed a million menhaden. Falling tide was moving a bit slow. Grass lines with minnows on corks only produced a lower slot red. Moved around a bit and found some docks. Menhaden on the bottom were the ticket. I set my spinfisher 6500 in the rodholder only to turn around to see it bent in half. My buddy and I scrambled over a double of 27 to 29 inch reds. Almost an hour later and we boated 8 more overslot reds. Threw some zman shrimp and landed 2 undersize flounder. Moved spots and doubled up on sharpnose. Fought a 40+ inch bonnethead. Hit another creek on the rising tide and hooked up with 2 more over slot reds. Lost 3 reds under some docks. All in all it was a great trip.
That was a FUN video! Makes me want to get out there pretty bad (of course every photo, video, story, etc. does that).
You caught most with smaller live menhaden on the bottom? I’ve only used menhaden in deeper water for big bulls and sharks, but maybe small ones are good for smaller reds in the creeks/ under docks?

Thanks! Yep, smaller ones on the bottom near structure are producing. I’ve been averaging 4 to 10 overslots per trip.
