the reds kept breaking water in a creek. the action was all around me for about 3 hours straight, but they didn’t seem interested in my live shrimp, doa shrimp, live mullet, or cut mullet. i tried carolina rig, popping cork, & freelining. I did land a 13" red, but I kept seeing slot & overslot reds laughing at me the entire time. What are some of y’alls go-to artificials to keep in the tackle box for days like that?
BEER!
haha, i had plenty of beer
Cut blue crab is the best bait period. I’ve fished with all of those and blue crab gets twice as many bites.

At that point it just makes you want to start shooting. Could you tell what they were eating? Maybe a topwater would have been a good choice. At the very least something else to try.

I even had a buddy w/ me & he tossed this gold & red glittery crab fly out there & got nothing. i think they were feeding on mullet or pinfish & shrimp, but i guess there was so much bait besides what i was tossing out that the odds were stacked in their favor maybe:question:
question, how do you use cut blue crab as bait, i have some blue crabs in the freezer. i mean how do you hook it so it doesn’t come off…how big of chunks…claws, body…quit asking questions & try something? i always hear to use “cracked crab” or blue crabs, just never tried it. in fact, a buddy of mine went out with a guide down here @ folly & the guide said the best bait for reds was to leave blue crabs out in the sun to let it get all stinky
Here’s the best way I can explain it, by letting Too Busy do it.
