Can I catch reef donkeys at the chs 60, just looking for a good fight? I have some shimano jigs, would that work?
Yes and Yes. Also, just use cheaper knife jigs for AJ. When lose one that is 5$ doesn’t hurt as bad as 20ish.
Plenty of them. If the jigs don’t do it for you just use a live bait and let it swim on down. Live bait doesn’t make it long out there. It’s been a few years but I used to dive the 60 a good bit and the barges had gag grouper stacked up under the bows. You’d never hook one bottom fishing but when you’d dive down it was amazing to see all the different species that reef holds.

Everybody says they fight like heck, never caught one!! Wasn’t sure how far I would have to go. My buddy has a go fast boat and makes the commanche easy and catches them out there. Thanks#128077;

Just about any wreck or reef in 60’ of water or more. Live bait would be my first go to, any small fish, but they’ll bite almost anything else. Trolling pink tube lures works great too, long ones, 24" long. They really seem to like pink.

It may not be necessary but chumming will attract the jacks…and sharks. Most people anchor but drifting works too.
I was at the 60 this week. They are hanging around 10 to 20 feet from the bottom. Don’t drop bait too low or the little guys will snag it.
What were you catching them on this past weekend 10-20 ft off the bottom? (Live bait, cut bait, jigs, etc).
