Reel Options 5/23

Left Toler’s 3;45 to get the early bite, lines in around 6. Started on 330 line in 250ft. First fish on at sunrise, what a cool scene! Great action until about 8:30, puting 6 nice mahi in the box. All were nice, largest a 30lb bull. The bite stopped early for us. Picked another cow up in 200ft later, but spent most of the day burning deisel and downing cold ones. Ocean was beautiful.

Great to have Coleman’s dad on the boat today. He had a proud grin on all day watching his boy show his skills. Mr Hodges had the battle of the day, wrestling with a monster of a hoo for 30min. We all enjoyed ribbing the master inshore guide with calls of “this aint no red, fight him!” Had the leader at the boat when the hoos last effort gave him freedom. Biggest I’ve seen in person, over 50lb, we’ll say 70 since we can.

Thanks to Capers for giving up an ideal ocean for the Doghouse to join us!

Boated 8 nice mahi, largest 30lb, lost a slobberknocker at the boat. All but one in 250-300ft inshore of 380, before 8am.

Great way to start a 3 day weekend!

They’re all bigger at the hill!

Good day fisheye.

Good fishing. Coleman said he was going kamikazi on the next wahoo. Goggles, fins, and all…

Hopefully we can get out and chase a broadbill soon. A couple were caught over the last 2 weeks.

BRAINSTORM

That boat is fit for a king. When a loudspeaker wakes you up 50 miles off and you got two fish on, you know you are not going to be roughing it. After some good trolling, I have to say the ride home with scotch on the rocks in the AC cabin with the movie “Walk Hard” ordered on Satelite might be the best ride home of all time. Thanks again.
