Great day fishing the first day of the 50/50. Started in the low 300s in 200-300’. Had a blue marlin in the spread before we had it all set. Just looking. Caught a few small gaffers and then headed out to the deep. Fished some longline gear in 1400’. One of the best blue marlin teaser bites I’ve seen. Came up behind the bowling pins, switched to the squid chain, and had her tight on the flat for about 5 seconds. She never knew she was hooked, and I guess she really wasn’t. Got shark bit out there in the deep as well. Finished w/ 9 mauis and some good stories. See you out there tomorrow.
