Reel Suggestion

The largest reel I have in my arsenal is a couple of 4000’s (Battle, Symetre and a Sedona). I have been thinking about getting something a little more stout to throw out a line for bigger sharks, bull reds and occasional Florida fishing trips, etc… I do not own any open face/conventional reels and have been looking at a Penn 320 GT2 level Wind. Mainly because they are simple and inexpensive (not cheap). I have also been looking at bigger spinning reels (Penn Spinfisher 550/650) I am looking for some constructive input on this topic. Bear in mind, I don’t NEED a new reel and, it would not see a lot of use, it is just something I have been thinking about.

Thanks

For larger spinning reels, the Quantum Cabo is mighty hard to beat in it’s price range. ± $200.

You can get the Spinfisher SSMs for cheap now. If i were in the market for a good spinning reel that was built like a tank and meant to last, that’d be the one I went for. I used 650SSMs every day in the Keys for everything (tuna and mackerel trolling, yellowtailing, snapper and grouper fishing, etc) and liked them so much I picked up a pair for myself when I got back to SC!

I love the Shimano Charter Specials - 1000 & 2000 series. Lever drag/level wind with the guts of the TLD25. $130 or so - the reels are bullet proof.

What about a Penn battle 7000 on ugly stik custom? Or Penn senators 4/0 6/0 on ugly stik sturdy stik
