My boat is a 22 foot Sea Pro CC. I’m just imagining the size of a 37 gallon bladder to be pretty big. I have to admit, I’ve not actually seen on for boats before to make a fair judgement. That is just my gut reaction is all.

A drift anchor is something that I hate to admit I’ve not purchased yet. I do need to pick one up.

I can’t wait for that warmer water to move in. The last few years I’ve brought home enough dinner from about 130’. I just love to give some of the bigger dolphins a look this time of year. I only make one or two “long” runs each year out that far, because of what you said. The rest of the season you can make much shorter runs and still catch good fish.

Again, Skinnee, I do appreciate the head’s up and talk here. Thanks.

We caught this one creeping in 130’ 2 years ago:

You can definitely get some quality fish in that depth when the conditions are right.

Jason, that one had to have went 68.932 lbs., right? Interwebly speaking, of course…:wink:

Adam, I carry a drift anchor that I purchased from Cabela’s a few years back. I believe it is rated for a bote up to 26’. I think it was only around $70 or so and came with the harness also. I haven’t had to use it yet, but with 2015 hours on my Yammy, and as often as I make it out, the law of averages might get me yet. As far as fuel on my bote, I take 70 gallons with me, and on a 200 mile round trip in nasty conditions, I still only burn, on average 55 to 60 at the most(I normally get better mileage). Some people get all hot and bothered about that, but with my tiny boat, 10-15 gallons goes along way with my single 4 stroke screw. Of course, the single screw is another topic all together. Saying that to say this, I know you, and I know how cautious you are. I’m sure that you will always cut the trolling short to not get caught floating dead in the water due to fuel. Everyone has to get to know their own rig and do what’s safe without pushing the envelope. Maybe I’m a little crazy for going out there in my tiny sled, but that bluewater fishing is a sickness that I can’t shake(or want to)! Anyway, I am glad that y’all had a good and safe trip! I can’t remember, but did you tell me that you will be unavailable this weekend to fish(Friday)?

Dude, I can’t even find them that big THIS time of year!!! LOL!!! One day, I’ll be good enough to figure out how to find those suckers!! That was one heck of a fish!!

Yeah Lynn. I’m leaving on Wednesday to take Obummer’s helicopters over to Europe. And of course this weekend is like one of the best forecasted yet!! I just figures, huh? 2’s at 8’s, with 10 knot or less winds out of the West . . . . like the days you really want to run out on, and I’m going to be way on the other side of the 226 Hole.

I thought that was what you told me. Yeah, that figures! I was hoping to go Thursday so Bill could go, but last I checked, that went to crap…

Five gallon bucket is better than nothing.

Yeah, Thursday looking pretty snotty headed towards the EB’s. Heck, the way you run, you can just skip across the top of those waves and be there in no time! LOL!!

LOL! I do have one of those on the boat with some rope. I’ll have to remember that in a pinch.

I got a really good feeling about early June this year. Last year it got too hot too quick, but it seems to be a more "normal" year this year if not staying cooler a bit longer. My prediction is several TRUE 50+ lbers caught this year and only God knows how many 30+ fish reported as 50+ fish we will see!

Yeah, and I can run the 40-yard dash in 4.2 seconds… We didn’t really time it, but it just felt a little faster than Michael Vick.

And my bote is really a 31 footer…

And I did 70 push ups in one minute on my last fitness test. At least that’s how my arms felt!!

I can’t wait for June. I’ve got my dad and brother coming down on the first nice day after my dad is out of work (he’s a school teacher), and we’ve got a church trip for the guys in my church to plan . . . . if your prediction is right, then bring on the 30+ pounders!! My biggest so far have been 20+ pounders. I’d also love to see a Whoo bloody up my boat for the first time this year.

I hope that you and Keri both get to reel in a nice hoo this year!!

I just hope one of us does!! That and I wouldn’t complain about the trouble of reeling in a sail this year either.

A bucket won’t keep your bow to the waves. Tried it & it doesn’t work at all. I bought a drift sock from cabelas 50% off. The black one. I got the largest size they offer. Works great. Only like $40. Really nice quality too. My boat sinks so I keep it tucked away on the boat for that bad day I hope I never see.

Thursday just might clean up afterall. If so, we’re going. Give us a holler on the radio.

Adam,

I think you are overestimating your fuel usage and will be very pleased when you go to fill up your boat and realize what you used!
