Registering a Boat in South Carolina - Advice

Looking to purchase a used boat from Florida and bring it back to Charleston. Are there any tips or do’s / dont’s to be aware of. Possibly regarding taxes or registering with the DNR? I’ve review the DNR site for information. Didn’t know if there was anything else.
Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks,
Steve

If you have a motor & hull title should be straight forward.
If not, take pics of the Serial numbers on motor block & or boat hull to send with paper work.

And know that there is a “covid backlog” right now. It took them 9-10 months to get me my registration.

You’d be better off driving to columbia to get it all done in one day. I’ll never mail mine again.

At least coming from Charleston you wouldn’t have to drive all the way into town since it is at the Farmer’s Mkt now.

Was out that way today so I thought I’d drop in an renew my license. Walked in, saw about 20 people in line and walked right out. Don’t be in a hurry if you go.
