I recently purchased a used boat from someone. I have the title for the boat and the motor and a bill of sale. What else do I need and where do I go to reregister it to me? I live in Beaufort County.
Thanks
For transfer of titles, you have to go to Columbia on Assembly St. or Charleston at Ft. Johnson.

You don’t need anything but the title signed by the seller and the bill of sale for both the boat and motor. If it’s from out of state, you will need a notary for the seller’s signiture on the title(s) and/or bill(s) of sale.

check the dnr site …u need a picture of the vin or put a paper on it and rub with a pencil. and make sure taxes payed up etc… it’s been about a year since i did mine so cant remember a off the top of my head.
you need to fill out a title transfer form
any boat dealer should have one, or you can print it from DNR’s web site
you only need a rubbing of the hull numbers if there is a problem with the current title.
if both titles are signed, you dont even need a bill of sale
there cant be any past due taxes.
if you arent close to a dnr office, you can just mail it in.

Chris-
If purchasing used from another state, must the title transfer or BOS be notarized as mentioned above? I’m looking at a boat in Savannah and getting it from a private seller on a weekend,so the notary may be challenging.
Thanks.
ps- it has a Honda 225, any comments? Do you service them?
stickman
yes we service honda
pretty sure you will need it notarized
I dont think GA titles boats and motors
