Anybody got experience with the 26’ Regulators?
Just curious how they ride. We fished the 24’ Regulator for a couple years and was very pleased. Just went to a 26’ but haven’t taking her offshore yet (still working on some rigging).

Depends on the power.
Many say the 23 rides better than the 26. I have found that most of those statements come from people riding on a 26 that is underpowered…

Underpowered with twin 200s? I have a 26 gamefish seahunt with 150s and it will do over 50mph.

Yes that’s underpowered. A 26 regulator weighs twice as much and is twice the boat of a sea hunt. That’s like comparing a Kia to a Cadillac. Most 26 Regulators have twin 250-f300’s.

The 26 regulator is only 2000lb heavier and max HP is 500. Granted it is a higher end boat but each has a target market. I like my MPG just fine and it is nice trolling and diving all day burning far less than 100 Gallons. That said I’d be interested to ride on the 26 regulator with 200s. I would expect it could scoot just fine but I have no first hand experience with it.

She’s got twin 250’s. The max horsepower for that boat.

I suggest you don’t ride on the 26 regulator. You’ll be selling your SeaHunt in a week.
Kidding but I have been offshore in Seahunts, SeaPros, Scouts, Grady Whites, and a few others. Once you go Regulator you never go back.
A 26 regulator is a battleship with twin yamaha 250s. I’ve had some good experiences on one and wouldnt hesitate to buy one if I could afford it.
I have a 26 Regulator with 250 hp Yamaha 4 strokes. Im sure I can arrange a ride sometime if you want to come to Georgetown. I also know the new Regulator dealer in Charleston is very proactive and would probably gladly take you for a spin because they have been trying to get me on the 34 but I’m trying to hold off a couple more years . I have owned and been on a lot of boats and I have no desire to own anythign else…except a Carolina Custom thats 54’ or larger:smiley:

Don’t know max hp but I do know there is a new one at Edisto with f300’s. Crazy Horse
Great boats. We go out in all kinds of stuff when other boats the same size and even some a bit larger are turning back. Good layout, great ride, only complaint is that the fishbox is too big so you really have to ice it down. Usually burn about 100-110 gallons a trip. Absolutely love the boat.

Not only different weights, but different bottoms as well.
