Releasing Sailfish...FYI.

sorry cracker - I just meant 4 pages of “I am so right” has pretty much bleached any message. If I was trying to learn anything, I would not know any more than I did before, other than posting it is sure to rile up the hens.
and the message started -
Just alittle FYI for those that may actully care about the offshore community.
Not really an inviting start.

If you care about your message and want to waive your conservation flag - and well done if you do - then find a way to reach your audience. Otherwise you’re just braggin. thats all i meant, respectfully

and cracker, I should add that your last post would have been a much better intro. I even read it twice.

After reading 4 pages of arguing…the Hasselhof bit was a relief. Man that was unexpected, very funny. I agree with the whole conservation thing, an absolutely agree with keeping the fish in the water, but I stay busy enough governing myself…too busy in fact to judge others. I’m going back to my corner, feel free to continue bashing, it’s amusing

The gods do not deduct from man’s allotted span the hours spent in fishing. ~Babylonian Proverb

I have been doing some research and found some information that puts an end to the whole debate…

There is NMFS Atlantic Highly Migratory Species Regulation that reads, “If a billfish is caught by a hook, the fish must be released by cutting the line near the hook or by using a dehooking device, in either case without removing the fish from the water.”

Sorry if I got a little heated, just dont like the whole I’m better than you thing.

So it must’ve really annoyed you when Henry Old said that he had the best dad in the world and because his dad is so much better than everyone else’s dad that it’s OK for him to beat down a sailfish for a picture.

Its not about what annoys me anymore. I apologized for getting so heated… I just meant I felt that was the attitude. I am even man enough to say thank you, greg. Had you not chosen to use the tactics you used, I probably would not have done any more research on the issue. Thanks for bringing awareness to the cause.

Dude. You need to learn how to read.

I didn't give Henry Old any grief about his picture. I gave him grief about his selfish atittude and his poor logic.

Same as I gave you.

Offshore fishing used to be a tight night community of people who used to look out for each other and the fishery. Its newbies like you with your selfish, better than anyone else attitude that annoys me.

It's newbies that give bad advice to other newbies and the endless domino effect of poor fish handling techniques perpetrated by website photos.

All I am doing is educting you guys that removing a fish from the water for a photo (no matter how "special" your fish is to you) is in bad form and should not be encouraged.

Like I said.....every Sailfish is special to the person that caught it, but sometimes we need to put the good of the fishery ahead of our selfish desire to be top dogs on the internet for a few hours.

Logic…

Ok, so I can kill a blue marlin or sail fish as long as its legal, but I cant take a picture of a legal sail fish in the boat. But if I do, I have to have the right attitude?

Makes sense to me…

Something makes me think you live in Mt Pleasant and wear socks with your Tevas. I think someone already said it best, you need to get laid.

Sounds like it pays to know how to handle those ladies in and out of the water.Remember Gregster it’s you who will be “out of breath, starved for oxygen” this time.Be careful, don’t drink any ice water immediately afterwards:wink:

That’s not me in the picture of the marlin. I just found that picture on the internet.

You are correct. The fish did miss some oxygen when it’s mouth was lifted from the water. However, the skeletal structure and protective slime coating were not jeopardized. In conclusion…the marlin in the water is much better off than the sailfish that was billed, tired out, hoisted on board, beat it’s head on the gunnel, then photagraphed.

It was the beach volleyball thing. The Cuervo girls were young, supple, and delicious.

They were also a ton of fun to party with 'til 5 in the morning.

A good time was had by all.

You should’ve seen us roll into Fantasy at 3am with 9 Cuervo girls. Imagine the scene from Animal House where they go to the bar… “Otis, he loves us!!!”

Greg left out one thing, I dont want anyone to miss what I think is the most important thing to come from this thread…

Thanks again, Greg, for keeping us all safe and aware of our actions.

I apologize again for getting so upset on this thread.

Hey, Islander, How do you like the cockpit on that boat? Also, we’ve got our spread tuned in pretty good, email me if you want to trade pointers…
