Remote Shifter

Installing a remote shifter for a 30 Tohatsu tiller that is mounted on the Ankona. The shift lever is located on the side of the outboard and i saw a remote installed on a Waterman post on this site. Well I have the shifter mounted and cable run. Here’s the problem, the Tohatsu has a rubber “plate” where the throttle cables run thru. This is not rigid enough to hold the cable in place for the lever to work properly. The motor has a brace, but it is too large for the cable stop.

Anyone have any suggestions? Located in Columbia.

Thanks

Part ordered and installed. Getting used to the “feel” of shifting, but much easier at the dock. Still have original shifter for “backup” on boardwalk
