What is the best way to dispose of concrete? will be tearing up a driveway.
is renting a dumpster the best option? also, how to break it up? Rent a jackhammer or what? The driveway comes right up to the screen porch slab with a small gap, and I do not want to crack the porch slab. Thanks
Depending on the size of the driveway and the health of your back. I took up a concrete pad about 20 x 20 x 4 with a jackhammer I rented from Sunbelt rentals. I think the jack hammer cost me about a hundred for a day. Didn’t hurt anything using it. I hauled the concrete to the dump with my truck and a trailer. Took me a few trips but all I was out was the gas … and a couple ibuprofen.
After you get it broken up, advertise on craigslist for free rip rap, someone will come pick it up for you. For reel.
If you’re close to WA, I might come grab a truck load myself.
Rent a skid-steer loader and a dumpster, if you want to take the work out of it. The loader will break up the concrete small enough to lift it over the side of the dumpster. Just be careful at the expansion joint, where the driveway meets the patio slab. You can probably hire a Contractor with experience, for a few bucks more than the amount you’ll spend on equipment rental, and your own labor costs. Just saying…

If you live near Orange burg, call Sunshine Recycling… they buy concrete.
Turkey… the other white meat.
Rent a Skid Steer with a set of pallet fork and a bucket, get a some dumpsters and lift the slabs with the pallet forks, then drop them to break them up. Pick up the bigger pieces with the forks and put in the dumpster. When you are finished, clean up the debris with the bucket.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

There is a place on 78 that takes it for free if you haul it to them. I have a dump trailer and a mini ex. Where are you located? I could probably do it cheaper than what it would cost you in dumpsters and equipment rental. You can only fill a dumpster bout half full do to the weight.

I have a small kubota front loader tractor that can pick up smaller pieces that may work, but I need to get it to smaller pieces first, and have to get the tractor to Mt. P from Johns Island if I go that route.
