Removal of Trailer Brakes

Noticed a while back that my trailer brakes were not really working and I they are dragging somewhat.

Don’t have time to replace them this week and need to fish. Also don’t want to risk having a wheel totaly lock up.

I have a dual axle trailer with surge disk brakes. What is the best way to disable the brakes without removing the entire system? Can I remove the pads and leave the calipers in place? Remove pads and calipers and cap the lines?

I had the exact setup on my trailer. Took the pads out and it was fine. Eventually wound up scrapping the entire system due to corrosion, etc. Have no problems stopping with my tow vehicle anyway.

I have removed the entire caliper before and just tied it or secured it up on the trailer somewhere, still connected. You can usually manually lock out the acuator but that will not stop dragging I doubt. If you remove the calipers completely you got to do something with the lines so they don’t get a bunch of crud and water in them. Never tried just reomving the pads.
