Removing bottom paint

I looked though archived topics but the last I found was 2004 and hope there may be some new products/methods that have come out since then. Any help?

why are you wanting to remove it?

Ask Phin what a tough job it is! Consider soda blasting or lot’s of elbow grease. Don’t expect to find a shiny finish under those layers of bottom paint. Before it is applied, the surface is usually roughed up with an aggressive (80-grit) sanding block.

I want to remove it because it was never applied right the first time. I’d rather have the bottom a little roughed up than bottom paint that doesn’t work, there’s a trade off for everything. Any more suggestions??

sanding block to smooth it out…wipe down very well with acetone…if there are any areas of blistering scrape them down and sand smooth…re-apply bottom paint…

I was made an expert the hard way. Funny thing is, the easy way is still hard.
